The Unexpected Joy of Adding a Water Feature (No, Really)

I’ll admit it: I used to think backyard water features were for fancy estates, not our modest Essex cul-de-sac home. But after a stressful year, I craved a peaceful corner to unwind. Enter PTG Landscaping’s decorative water features page (check it out here). Their section on “pondless waterfalls” caught my eye—low maintenance, safe for kids, and surprisingly affordable.

We opted for a small, recirculating fountain tucked into a corner garden bed. The sound of running water drowns out neighborhood noise, and the birds love it. PTG’s tips on positioning (away from trees to avoid leaf clutter) and pump maintenance saved us rookie mistakes. It’s now the highlight of our yard—proof that you don’t need a ton of space to create a little serenity.
