Landscaping Lessons From Our Essex Neighborhood

Walking our dog through Essex, I’ve noticed more neighbors swapping thirsty lawns for native plants and mulch beds. Curious, I dug into PTG Landscaping’s landscaping services page (here’s the link), which emphasized drought-resistant plants like switchgrass and coneflowers. Their tip about grouping plants by water needs saved us so much time (and hose dragging).

We redid our front yard with native shrubs and a rain garden to handle runoff. PTG’s guide also clued me into Essex’s soil quirks—like how our clay soil needs extra compost. A year later, our yard’s the envy of the block (and the deer-resistant plants mean fewer battles with Bambi).
